For this month’s Life Well Lived question, they asked us: “How do you incorporate color into your look?”
I went through my closet to get an idea of my approach, and I noticed a distinct trend. I wear a LOT of teal.
When I first married Bear, his parents were alarmed at the amount of black I wore. They thought I was a goth kid, when really it was just the easiest thing to wear during that crazy phase of life. My mother-in-law took me shopping time after time, forcing me to pick out bright colors until my closet was unrecognizable. I think she thought that wearing bright colors would suddenly make me over into someone she understood.
Since then I’ve never really gone back to black, although I don’t let Sally dictate my clothing choices anymore. I find myself gravitating to jewel tones, but ever since I dyed my hair red, all I want to wear is teal.
Then I started Foxy Like A Crafter, and suddenly I needed to get a lot more creative. Now I find that color is what inspires me when I put an outfit together. I love mixing colors, I love unexpected pops of color, I love a bold contrasting shoe. Color is where it’s easiest for me to take risks.

It's nice to hear someone say they aren't afraid of color. It inspires me, too, and makes me want to be creative. You stick me in an all-black wardrobe and I lose all my energy. Just can't do it! LOL
