For years I’ve been active in the Maximum Fun community, chatting on the messageboards, listening to all the podcasts, and attending MaxFunCon, a gathering of awesome, creative people doing awesome, creative things. At one of those gatherings, I met my friend Elisabeth.
We’ve only met in person once, but she is one of those generous souls who excels at sharing their love, and this week she sent me a package of goodies. Just because she felt like it.
I opened each item with a shocked grin on my face. I had no idea it was coming. Each present was wrapped separately in bright tissue paper, and each was utterly delightful in it’s randomness. A pack of tissues, beautiful stationary, scented hand sanitizer, dried apricots, lip balm and on and on. My favorite items were the little golden fedora charm (I’m totally going to slap that on a necklace immediately), and the notepad with the title, “Your story matters. Tell it.”
Elisabeth knows of my literary aspirations, and this spark of encouragement and support was so beautiful to me. What a gift to have such a thoughtful friend.
